Gateshead Council, on behalf of the 7 Local Authorities in the NE LEP area, is seeking bids from Third Sector Organisations for the provision of Community Projects to support a range of activities aimed at assisting disadvantaged or excluded people to move closer to the labour market through increasing their skills. Applications are welcome from Monday 23rd January to Thursday 23rd February 2017.
The project is funded through The Skills Funding Agency (SFA) & ESF (European Social Fund) financing organisation and procured, on behalf of the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills.
Funding grants of up to £15K will be awarded to successful third sector organisations to engage with participants who are aged 19+ and are eligible to work in the UK with the purpose of mobilising disadvantaged or excluded unemployed and inactive people to facilitate their progress towards employment and/or further learning and training. Projects should support a range of activities which may include:
- Initial help with basic skills
- Skills development
- Taster work experience including voluntary work
- Training, advice and counselling
- Link with/enhance Job search assistance
- Confidence building
- First contact engagement activities
Funding should target the hardest to reach communities and individuals who must reside and take part in delivery based within the North East seven local authority areas.
